I think that most of the events that occurred in the Hurricane Katrina floods were mishandled. The government and the city did not prepare for the event, even when they had been warned of what might happen to the levies.
I believed that the government and the city did not manage the event well. I truly believe that it was a race problem. I believe that the policeman on duty feared for their lives. Therefore, reacted violently when perhaps, if they had dealt with the issues of families trying to returned to their homes and crossing the bridge differently, it could have been much calmer situation. I don’t think that the police valued the property more than the lives of the people in New Orleans.
I do think that the people have a right to a lawsuit and that their constitutional rights were violated. Yes, their rights were violated in many ways. I think that the government is at fault and should be held liable. They had a right to travel, but again only if it was safe to travel.
